Edward Niemann

Edward Niemann

see this page XIX century

Edward Niemann, son of artist Edmund John Niemann (1813-1876) was like his father, a landscape painter from London. He was one of the most prolific and successful of the high Victorian topographical painters yet many details of his life are missing. Between 1863 and 1867 Edward Niemann exhibited two paintings at the British Institute. A keen observer, he crisscrossed the English Isle and painted from Yorkshire to Devon and from Wales to Edinburgh. Today his work is seen not only as beautiful art, but also as a truthful account of pre-industrialized England.
