Irene Robinson

Irene Robinson

1891 - 1973

Irene Robinson was born November 27, 1891 in South Bend, Washington. She was known as a modernist painter, and also illustrated children`s books written by her husband, W. W. Robinson. She studied art extensively at Dreary College, University of Chicago, Broadmoor Art Academy, the Otis Art Institute and under John F. Carlson. Robinson was a member of several California based art groups including the California Watercolor Society, the California Art Club, the Laguna Beach Art Association, the Progressive Painters of Southern California, and was a founder and member of Contemporary Painters. Robinson's art has been exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the San Diego Fine Art Society, the California Art Club, the Golden Gate Exposition, the Ebell Salon and the Glendale Art Association. Her work is currently represented at the Pasadena Art Institute.
