Sam Barber

Sam Barber

b. 1943

Sam Barber was born in Europe, and grew up in New York. He began painting and drawing at a very early age and his talent earned him a scholarship to the esteemed Art Students League. He studied painting at the National Academy of Design, and then with Henry Hensche at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown, MA. Barber is best known for his bright and colorful impressionist landscapes of Cape Cod as well as his countryside and park scenes of France and Italy. Barber has taught painting at the Cape Cod Conservatory of Music and Fine Arts, and the Cape Cod Art Association. He is a member of the Society of American Impressionists and is avidly collected across the United States. His work can be found in 35 museums, including the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. Barber is the recipient of numerous prizes and awards.
