Serge Missirian

20th century

Serge Missirian was a Middle Eastern born Armenian painter who gravitated to the sophisticated Parisian culture of the early century. He began his art training first at the Academy Nancy and then in Toulouse in the South of France before arriving in Paris around 1920. He exhibited in that city's salons throughout the 1920's and 1930's. A retrospective exhibition for the "Free Armenia" movement was held in Paris in 1946 after the liberation of the city from the Nazis.
